The Good Girl Who Went Broke

If you’re reading my blog posts, chances are that you have found yourself in a very similar situation to my own. So…without going into too much boring detail…here’s my background:

When I was 19, I was preparing to graduate college, thought I was in love and was more financially sound than any other teen I knew. My success at 19 lead to a big head and a lot of bad ideas. Long story short…I ended up divorced, a single mother to a beautiful son and in massive amounts of debt by the time I was 23. So…at 24 I had to start back at ground zero; well, I actually had to start about 10 paces behind that.

Attempting to pay off massive amounts of unexpected debt on a limited income with a child and little help can be daunting. I’ll admit that I have had my fair share of sleepless nights, but I know it is possible. I have learned who I am through my hardships and I have discovered what I want in life. Part of what puts a smile on my face now is waking up every day to find the strength to take one more step toward my goals and to do so fashionably. I love to feel pretty and for my personality to be expressed in my style. On a tight budget, style can take a little bit of creativity.

I’ll keep you posted on the progress as I pay off my remaining debt, but I want mostly to help you as you strive to be both responsible and stylish.

If you have any additional questions for me or regarding my background, please don’t hesitate to ask.

  1. Hi! I first watched you on yahoo’s financially fit and was very impressed with your story and money management techniques. You seemed very well adjusted and happily married. What happened from that point to this? I guess I was hoping you would be willing to share a little more about how you ended up in debt. If it is personal feel free to disregard.
