Looking lovely underneath…

Good morning, friends!

Last Call by Neiman Marcus is running a fantastic sale on all things designer right now. Despite my excitement, $400 ensembles are still not in my budget just yet, but great deals on awesome lingerie is.

After all, isn’t one of the greatest things about being girls that we get to wear pretty, lacey things?

My favorite find so far today has to be the Hanky Panky separates that are on amazing discounts. Neiman Marcus is offering an additional 30% everything even if it’s already marked down!

Pin-spiration: Nautical Nancy

I see this Pin all over the place, but I know that it can sometimes be difficult to find the perfect nautical pieces for a decent price point.

Today’s pin-spiration look can be achieved all for less than $150. All of the pieces are evergreen pieces too which means that they can be mixed, matched and worn forever without fear of them losing their stylish elements.

Pinspiration: Color

This last weekend, my boyfriend and I visited his hometown in California. One night for dinner, his mom wore this adorable dress full of exciting color. I loved it! I also realized that my wardrobe was surprisingly monotone with all of the black, red, white and camel colors that I like to use for basics. So…with many thanks to Walker’s mom…this week’s Pinspiration is COLOR!

A word of caution to those colorful fashionistas out there…don’t go too far past your comfort zone. Mixing too many trends or splashing together too many color schemes can come out more like Mimi from the Drew Carrey show than stylish ensemble. Pick a scheme and go with it. Add some extra interest by mixing textures like the outfit below. Also, if you’re going for a daringly colorful look, think about keeping your hair, makeup and accessories pretty minimalist.

Pin-spiration

This post is meant for all of you savvy Pinterest addicts out there. I, like you, love to browse Pinterest, it’s many inspirational trends and fun finds. So…in addition to my celebrity trend look alikes, I will occasionally pull a trending ensemble from Pinterest and put together a look alike for a fraction of the cost of the original. This whole outfit was originally thousands of dollars, but you can get the entire outfit PLUS all of the accessories for less than $200.

Keep in mind that the minimalism of this outfit with an added punch of blue is what keeps this classic style flowing and brilliant. Style hair casually to play down the structured jacket and add a smoky eye for a touchy of mystery.

Enjoy, fashionable friends!

Fab & Frugal Deal of the Day (#2)

Because I’ve been MIA for so long, I’ve decided to post TWO Fab & Frugal Deals. This second deal is an entire outfit and, as always, totals less than $100.

Although we’re all looking forward to fall, we still have a full 5 days until Labor Day which means that we should wear the heck out of our white summer clothes until then. Am I right?

Well, many of these items can be transitioned into fall which is why they’re part of today’s deal. Pair the tops with some shorts to keep it on trend for the end of summer or throw on some fantastic black pants and a cardi for a fall tone down. I went with something super feminine to wrap up the holiday weekend just because most of the fall styles are really edgy and dramatic. Enjoy!

Celebrity Inspiration – Zooey Deschanel

Everyone loves the “girl next door look” that Zooey Deschanel has indeed perfected. Her ultrafeminine vintage hairstyles and chic pin up girl looks have got America screaming for styles that invoke innocence and flirtaciousness (yes, I know I made that word up).

I feel like Zooey Deschanel’s styles typically carry a few key elements. Firstly, she’s in love with a peterpan collar. Secondly, she almost always wears opaque tights under her shorts and skirts. Finally, she has a habit of sticking to a black, navy, red and ivory color pallet. Do I love all of these things? Absolutely!

Achieve Zooey’s look for much less than $100 and feel like a million bucks. I love the modesty of this look and how, despite it’s lack of cleavage or thigh, it is completely feminine and sexy.

Looking Lovely…Underneath

On my bad days, I have this thing where I pick out some super cute undies (matching, of course) that make me feel 100% better. It’s like me own little fabulous secret. Quality lingerie can be hard to come by when you’re on a budget. Matching sets often cost anywhere from $60 – $300 when you’re looking for great fabric and a good fit. The cheapo stuff I’ll occasionally grab from the Victoria Secret sale bin or maybe the Target undie aisle doesn’t count for the days I’m talking about – I’m talking about a lingerie set you keep on the ready. It can be a base layer for a big date or, if you’re like me, the secret weapon to a little pick-me-up on a rough morning full of self-conscious thoughts.

This deal is a good one. Get a great bra and some super sexy panties for $55.94 altogether! I love this set – it’s very pin-up girl meets modern day attorney.

Feminine Find: Blush Pink Romper

I love this soft pink romper which features a lace opening in the back. It’s great for these sweltering summer months because of the light fabric and open back, but it also adds a touch of femininity to what sometimes seems like a childish piece.

Because I love rompers so much (less time finding TWO pieces to put together), I have included a second fashionable find. The ASOS romper adds a little more fabric for the more modest gal and even gives the romper a more professional edge.

Today’s Fab & Frugal Deal of the Day comes to a grand total of $96.36! Check out this fantastic knit wrap dress from Tinley Road and the limitless styling possibilities that go along with it! I cannot tell you how much I love this piece.

I chose to pair the wrap dress with a large envelope clutch and some gold accessories. It could be fun any number of ways, but feel free to share your comments or thoughts and maybe send pictures of how YOU chose to style it.

Celebrity Inspiration: Kate Middleton

With all the buzz about the royal baby’s expected arrival, it only seemed appropriate to use Kate Middleton for a Celebrity Inspiration post.

I love Kate’s easy style that could work its way into anyone’s life and still be totally functional. She is reinstating elegance into the world of fashion and successfully giving low key designers a following of royal proportions.

I hope you enjoy this look and I look forward to hearing from you!

Celebrity Inspired Friday

I love Miranda Kerr’s street style and I think that she is a great inspiration for those of us seeking to turn heads while running errands.

Today’s style inspiration focuses on flattering the female figure in all the right places and giving the impression of fresh, easy to wear fashion.

Since Miranda Kerr’s fabulous top isn’t quite in our <$100 budget, I came up with a few fabulous alternatives. Have fun with this look as it is as fluid as ever and can be adjusted to fit your mood for whatever day you choose to sport it.

The key to this look is a pair of perfectly fitted white trousers matched with a flowy printed top. The top should add interest to the look while maintaining a casual shape and letting the pants do the work of showing off your beautiful curves.

Joan & David Shoe Find

I love shoes like Honey Boo Boo likes cheese puffs. When it comes to shoes, quality counts and no brand produces quality design more wonderfully that Joan & David. I have had nearly all of my Joan & David shoes resoled and refinished just so that I could go on wearing them. This shoe pick is a little more trendy than classic (hello, neon!), but it has great style, it is easy to wear and it could be the perfect low-key accessory for a cute pair of shorts or a great work out fit. I love the chunky heel and the pop of neon that make this find a show stopper. For only $59.97, this Joan & David shoe is well worth the investment.

Fab & Frugal Daily Deal

Today’s Fab & Frugal Daily Deal includes one of my all time favorite items. I’ve purchased this sweater in white, black and the textured stripe because I love it so much. The quality is amazing, the fit is fabulous and the price point is perfect for such a timeless staple piece.

Friends, I’d like to meet a Madewell linen sweater and, yes, you’re welcome.

Neutral On A Budget

Neutral tones are this summer’s favorite trend – besides maybe neon. What makes the neutral palette so great, however, is how timeless it is. Neutral tones and textures have been popular and fashionable since the beginning of fashion history and, in my opinion, they will continue to maintain their A list status for quite some time.

The following is an ensemble of some of my favorite pieces – the entire outfit is less than $100. In fact, get all three fabulous pieces for a grand total of $92.36!

Fab & Frugal Deal of the Day

Today’s Fab & Frugal Deal of the Day is one of my absolute FAVORITE outfit combinations. Pair the feature pieces with some deconstructed denim, some shorts or even a great pencil skirt and you’re good to go!

These are basics that transcend time and complete any wardrobe. The best part…you can get both pieces for much less than $100 AND pay NOTHING for shipping! Fashion win? I think so.
